The German concern TÜV SÜD is the undisputed leader in the field of expertise, testing and certification. For more than a century and a half of history, he won the love and recognition of those consumers for whom exceptional quality is not just an empty sound. This certification can not be bought or forged. And only those products that are thoroughly tested for quality receive it.
A special story has developed with cars. Due to the fact that there is no universal relationship between mileage and the number of occurring failures, the data of the expert organization are grouped by age of car. Given the huge number of different brands and models, the information is provided in the format of ratings, which clearly reflect the percentage of faults from the total number of machines tested in the study.
The organization publishes its rating on the reliability of cars by brand annually, and the material for statistical analysis is the data from the technical inspections of millions of cars registered in Germany. Due to the fact that testing machines in the European specifications, which are supplied to Russia, will be tested, information from TUV will be useful not only to residents of the Old World, but also to domestic consumers.
In order to identify the most reliable cars in the process of compilation, not only the situation with the operation of power units, but also problems with corrosion, electrics, electronics and many other defects that the manufacturer has not foreseen for any reason are subject to analysis. There is no doubt about the objectivity of the picture of reliability from TUV, because models that have been tested at least half a thousand times get into reports, for example, in 2017, 224 models, represented by 9 million cars in Germany, were on the list. This fact, coupled with the recognized authority of the organization contributes to increased competition among automakers, encouraging them to produce better products.
Among the “oldies” of 10 and 11 years of age, the Porsche 911 (10.4%) again excelled with the highest persistence - with an average mileage of 80 thousand km. problems with reliability occur only in every 10 cars.
The top three are closed by the Tayota Corolla Verso (15.8%) and the Mercedes SLK roadster (17.4%). Among the outsiders in the car reliability rating are familiar faces: Chevrolet Matiz (36.5%), Alfa Romeo 147 (37.8%), Renault Laguna (38.1) and Kia Sorento (38.4%). Completes the top five most unreliable cars Mercedes M-Klasse with a rate of 42%.
In the case of 10 and 11 year old cars, the reasons for concern are the same as for the younger models. In this case, one can state a fivefold increase in the share of cars with corrosion (from 0.1% to 0.5%) and a twofold increase in malfunctions from the side of electronic equipment and transmission. Lighting equipment causes complaints in 26.3% of cases, and problems with leakage of working fluid occur in every 9 cars.
Summing up the rating, it is possible to say with confidence which cars are the most reliable and which ones require substantial improvement. The first category includes models from Porshe, Mazda, Audi and Mercedes. Approximately at the same level are the models BMW, Volvo, Tayota and Honda, and the sturdy middling cars can be considered as Opel, Skoda, Seat, Nissan. Chevrolet and Peugeot cars have a slightly worse performance, while on the last lines were representatives of Renault, AlfaRomeo, Dacia, Fiat, Kia, Citroen. Representatives of the domestic automotive industry in the TUV ratings are not involved.
